How You Met
We meet at Old Dominion University maybe 2006. We were both staying in Whitehurst dorms while the new dorms were being built. Ashley saw him everyday and eventually worked up the nerve to initiate conversation with A’Keen and the rest in history.
How did you know they were the one?
Ashley: He was my best friend. No matter where I was in my life, he was always there. He always wants the best for me.
A'Keen: She understands me. She backs me in all that I do. She’s so compassionate and caring.
Proposal
A'Keen proposed to me at the signing of our home. Everybody was in on it except for me. Even our realtor. At the very end of signing all the necessary paperwork, our realtor handed me a piece of paper and told me to sign it. As I was reading it, I realized it was a different kind of proposal. It was a poem and as I read it, A'Keen was on knee asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes as I signed my proposal!

Our colors were purple, blue and grey hues. We wanted an earthy, natural feel so there was a lot of greenery and flowers by Basket and Bows in Tasley, Va. to accent the scenes of the Chesapeake Bay. We loved the balloon garland by B. Pilar Events that accented certain parts of our reception, like our cake and the table seating chart.
